And now for something a little bit different...

So it's not fitness related and I have a couple of posts lined up to pop on here very soon but this afternoon between learning vocab and packing for England tomorrow, something has cropped up on my Facebook which has led me to writing this post.

I, for one, am a person who loves celebrity culture. I love reading about their lives, keeping up with what they're wearing and checking their Instagram and Twitter feeds every so often. Okay, so I know that their are aspects of the celebrity world which have a huge negative impact, especially on the younger generation but I'm sick of seeing this concept that people who like celebrities are stupid or uneducated.

Earlier I posted a picture of a pretty famous British celebrity, Katie Price. For anyone across the pond, or anyone just doesn't know who she is, this is Katie Price:

Katie Price is a glamour model, known for her very public private life. A few days ago, Katie announced that she was pregnant with her fifth child and then earlier today, that she was divorcing her current and third husband.
Once I saw this news I immediately shared it to Facebook as I knew some of my friends, and also my mum would probably be interested to see it. I was then met with a comment of a picture of the words to the effect that no one cares about this.

But here's the thing, people do care. I care and I know many other people who take an interest in celebrity culture, after all, it's never been as big as it is now and wherever you go, you can't help but be surrounded by it. Perhaps next time someone shares a link about politics or about whichever king they next dig up out a car park, I'll tell the poster that I just don't care. After all, what's free speech if you can't tell someone that no one's interested!

App Review: Seven

Today I used Apple's new app, Seven for the first time. Here's what I learned:

  • Seven is a fitness app which aims to help you do a daily workout lasting just seven minutes.
  • You begin with a fully body workout but you can access other specific workouts such as upper body and core etc the longer you use the app.
  • It's not easy - Some of the exercises, for me it was the arm exercises, are quite unpleasant, but the good news is that you only have to do each one for thirty seconds.
  • The app also tracks your progress with hearts, but forget to exercise for one day and you will begin to lose hearts and therefore have less chance of getting the achievements.
Although it's only been one day, I really like seven and seven minutes is definitely enough to get you feeling flushed even if that's the only exercise you do all day.

Seven is currently on the Itunes App store for free so download it and get going!

Beginnings... again

After moving to Germany last month I've been feeling super tired and sluggish a lot of the time, partly due to a whole load of uni work and sorting things out since I've arrived here as well as being absolutely terrible at doing any kind of exercise at all.

So as of tomorrow things are going to get back into gear again. I've never been a sporty person and neither do I particularly enjoy being outside when there are a million books I could be reading indoors in the comfort of my own bed but as I'm sure anyone who's ever put on their running shoes or spent an hour in the gym will know, there's nothing quite like the feeling of knowing you've done your body some good.
